Hello!  Thanks for stopping by.

I'm a young energetic educator who has over 3 years of working and living abroad in Asia.  Although most of my experience is teaching ESL, I am looking to teach Social Studies.  I have a keen interest in History and have passed the Arizona State Educator Proficiency Assessment for History and am nearly finished with a Social Studies teacher full-certification program.

Personally, I am currently 27 years old and living in China, although I am originally from California and Arizona in the U.S.  I enjoy exercise, learning languages, good conversation, and museums.   My personality is outgoing and personable.  I love to smile and keep positive. I'm also able to adjust to new surroundings well and enjoy a new challenge. I am married, however  my spouse will not be accompanying me, as she will be continuing her own studies.

What can I offer to your organization?  I have 3 years experience teaching English and other subjects in Asia to a variety of age groups, and am very adaptable.  I shouldn't have any problem adjusting to new curriculum.  Additionally,  I enjoy living abroad and learning about culture.  So, I am accustomed to living abroad.  I have also been actively engaged in professional devlopment through an Arizona Dept. of Education certified teacher certification program and an internship at the Western Academy of Beijing's Humanities Dept.  I will be fully licensed to teach secondary school History/Social studies in Spring 2009.  I have experience with many sports and can coach extracurricular athletics, too.

I feel creating a positive classroom environment that allows students to be comfortable with actively participating is very important.  Although I have experience, I want to learn from my fellow teachers and supervisors.  The best resources a teacher has are his co-workers.  Different teachers have different styles and ideas.  By exchanging ideas, all teachers in the organization can improve.

Thank you for your time.  Please feel free contact me at thomas_gammill@yahoo.com.

Sincerely,

Thomas D. Gammill II
